Is there a “gifted and talented” program?

Being a small school, we do not have a formal, building-wide gifted and talented program. However, enrichment is done within the classrooms on a class-by-class basis, and because we’re a small school, it’s possible for teachers to tailor student assignments to individual needs and achievement levels. In short, while we do not have any formal program for helping our gifted and talented students realize their potential, our teachers are nonetheless happy to accommodate those students who show unusual talent and aptitude.

Do you offer any special programs?

As part of our commitment to Learning for Life, Pratt Community School offers a wide range of enrichment programs to our students — through the classroom experience and our partnership with Pratt Community Education. A complete list of our programs can be found here.

Is Kindergarten full or half-day?

Kindergarten is full day, following the same schedule as the rest of the school. Kids often have a small snack in the morning, and take brief rests either before or after lunch/recess, but they are otherwise active and academically engaged for the entire day.

Can my child take the bus to school?

Pratt has a very wide busing area that runs from northwest Minneapolis all the way down to our home in Prospect Park in Southeast Minneapolis. Since bus routes are currently being updated, please contact the school for more detailed information. If you do not live in Pratt’s busing area you may still attend Pratt but you will be responsible for your own transportation.

Yes, we have a morning program that begins at 6:30 am and an afternoon program that goes until 5:45 pm. The morning program costs $8.50 per day and the after school program costs $6.00 per day. More information about both programs is available at the main office.

Teachers have the choice of extending the recess, under their supervision, at the end of the normal recess period.
